An overview of the process for custom made orthopedic shoes...

Every customer is measured before any shoe making begins to ensure the best possible fit and functionality. For some orthopedic conditions an exact casting is made and a protoype shoe or mock-up is made to guarantee a comfortable and fashionable fit.

1

Measure or cast the feet for precise measurements.

2

Making the "last" or form around which shoes will be built.

3

A finished pair of "last" and some of the tools used.

4

The engineering of patterns for a specific last.

5

Choosing the appropriate materials for the proper function and fit.

6

Cutting the materials using the engineered pattern as guides for precision component fit.

7

Assembling the uppers from all the cut components.

8

Fitting or "last" the completed uppers over the custom form (last).
